Windham Swing Band | The 18 piece Windham Swing Band (WSB) was started by director Bruce Lee in the spring of 1998. It consists of dedicated musicians who love to play jazz, big band, and swing from the 30's, 40's, and 50's, up to the present day. The majority of Swing Band members also play in the Windham Concert Band. They are joined by other local musicians on bass, guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals to create the full big band sound.
The WSB debuted in December, 1998, and since that time has been playing full length concerts and dances throughout the area. The Swing Band has performed for a "crowded Dance Floor", at the Windham Community Band’s annual fundraiser, at Castleton. They have performed at numerous other events and venues including: the annual Windham Middle School World War II Dance, Hampton Beach Sea Shell, the North Andover Common, Londonderry High School, the Londonderry Common, the Magical Evening of Giving, and at a Benefit for the Adams Memorial Opera House in Derry. They have also played at several private parties.
The Swing Band’s repertoire pays tribute to the Music and Leader's of the Big Band Era, including Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and others. They perform such favorites as “Moonlight Serenade,” “Swing, Swing, Swing,” “Take the A Train,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” as well as more modern tunes such as “Zoot Suit Riot” and “Jump, Jive and Wail”.
